Orchestra

Columbus Youth Jazz Orchestra (CYJO) is composed of outstanding players in grades 9-12, and is directed by Mark Donavan, Unified Arts Coordinator K-12 for Columbus City Schools. The CYJO performs prior to the Columbus Jazz Orchestra Sunday matinee concerts in the Southern Theatre, and will have many other performance opportunities, including such events as the Jazz and Ribs Festival and the Creekside Jazz and Blues Festival. 

Studio

Columbus Youth Jazz Studio is for students who want to continue improving their individual skills within the context of a top-level ensemble. Directed by Ryan Hamilton, Assistant Professor at Capital and Denison Universities and member of the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, they will perform four concerts, including area jazz festivals.

Ensemble

Columbus Youth Jazz Ensemble (CYJE) is a developing group that brings together students from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels to create a fun and motivating big band experience. Directed by Jessica Sneeringer, trombonist and Band Director at Columbus Academy.

Workshop

Columbus Youth Jazz Workshop is an introductory experience that gives middle/high school students an opportunity to find and shape their musical voice. Led by Zach Compston, JAG’s VP of Education and Community Engagement.
