Such Sweet Thunder features some of the Midwest’s finest jazz musicians paying loving tribute to the music of Duke Ellington and his musical partner Billy Strayhorn. This project is a labor of love sparked by Ryan Hamilton and Tony Gayle McClung, and brought to life by the fantastic musicians they’ve lined up. The band consists of Ryan Hamilton (trombone and arrangements), Jim Powell (trumpet), Michael Cox (alto saxophone, clarinet), Bryan Olsheski (tenor saxophone, clarinet), Mark Donavan (baritone saxophone, clarinet), Lucas Holmes (piano), John Allen (bass), and Tony Gayle McClung (drums, banjo).
