Jazz Girls Columbus, under the direction of the 2024 Artistic Director Nadje Noordhuis, is a free educational event for girls and gender expansive youth in middle and high school, individuals that are currently in college music programs, and all Ohio music educators. We accept ALL instruments and vocalists (traditional and non-traditional).
This event includes full ensemble sessions, sectionals, faculty performance, interactive jazz history talk, improvisation masterclass, and a final performance/jam session at Long Street Studio (300 E Long St). A local faculty representing all instruments will co-teach sessions alongside Nadje Noordhuis.
Jazz Girls Columbus Schedule | 9:30-4pm
- 9:30-10:00: Registration, mingling, meet and greet with faculty
- 10-10:50: Welcome, full group playing session
- 11-11:50: Instrumental/Vocal break out sessions
- 12-12:45: Full group Q&A
- 12:45-1:15: Catered pizza lunch
- 1:15-2:00: Interactive jazz history/listening session
- 2:00-2:45: Improvisation break out session
- 2:45-3:15: Move to Long St. Studio for Final Performance (300 E. Long St.)
- 3:15-4:00: Final Performance, pass out Jazz Girls Columbus certificates
