From swing and bebop to funk and hip-hop, today’s young jazz composers draw from a wider array of influences than ever before to create captivating music.

On April 21st, JAG celebrates the original jazz compositions of Central Ohio’s finest young musicians! Selected artists will have an opportunity to perform and discuss their compositions in an live, intimate concert setting at the Jazz Academy.

Guidelines: Composers should be between the ages of 18-30, and may submit 1-2 finished original works influenced by jazz and/or its related forms. Recordings, professional or otherwise, are preferred with your submissions. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of jazz composers for selection.

You will have an opportunity to rehearse your band at the Jazz Academy on Saturday, April 16th between 12-4pm.

Note: JAG’s Young Composer Celebration is not a competition, but a chance for young composers to perform their pieces before a live audience!
