Spend some time with a handful of Vaughn’s favorite jazz records. We’ll examine jazz performances from perspectives narrow and wide. We’ll look at elements such as form and style while taking note of what’s inside or outside the “common practice.” We’ll even discuss the connection between Miles Davis and Beethoven. There is sure to be something for everyone in this exploration of “Famous Jazz Recordings”.
Vaughn Wiester has long been established as a Columbus, Ohio jazz legend. A trombonist and arranger, Vaughn is an alum of the Woody Herman Orchestra and the Columbus Jazz Orchestra and has led a Monday night big band – The “Famous” Jazz Orchestra – for over 20 years.
Note: The April 12th class will end at 7:30 PM. Attendees for this class will receive a discount code for $10 off tickets to the JAG Presents: Terell Stafford show at the Lincoln Theatre.
