Come out and see Columbus’ finest youth jazz musicians, Columbus Youth Jazz Orchestra (CYJO), led by Fort Hayes Music Director and local musician, Mark Donavan. This set also features special guest on drums, Jim Rupp. Rupp has toured extensively with the bands of Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson and Glenn Miller.
The orchestra’s talented high school musicians further their experience in America’s classical music through a 30-week session during the school year and performances at the Southern Theatre and beyond. The CYJO plays music of the highest level with repertoire from the libraries of great big bands, including Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Dizzy Gillespie.
The show will take place at the American Electric Power stage at Bicentennial Park on the Scioto River. All admission is free.
