For middle and high schools students interested in developing their jazz voice, no experience necessary.
The cost for this program is “Pay What You Can”. In these times, we understand how the current pandemic could be creating a financial strain for you and your family. Please “pay what you can”, as we will not allow cost to be a barrier for participation in our virtual programming. This five-day program is valued at $125 per participant. What you choose to pay will help us compensate our teaching artists for their time and effort. Please enter the total amount that you wish to be charged in the registration form.
Do you sing in choir, musical theatre, or simply LOVE to sing? The Jazz Academy is here to bring out your inner voice! This week-long workshop will provide vocalists the opportunity to explore the ins and outs of jazz singing, including style, improvisation and technique through a series of masterclasses, listening sessions and private lessons. Vocalists will learn about sensational singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra and more while learning from JAG’s Columbus Youth Jazz teaching artists and guest artists. We will also branch out into R&B, Soul and other jazz-influenced music!
With the ever changing landscape surrounding COVID-19, we are making plans for virtual, in-person, and hybrid programming, and are committed to putting on an exciting camp for young musicians. We will provide a final update to the camp schedule by mid July.
Please note that the third-party platform, Zoom, will be used for this camp experience. If this creates a barrier to participate for you, please let us know by emailing education@jazzartsgroup.org.
