JAZZOO CONCERT SERIES CANCELED, PLANS UNDERWAY FOR 2021 RETURN

COLUMBUS, OH – In the interest of public health and for the safety of audiences, staff and performers during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jazz Arts Group (JAG) and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium today announced the cancellation of JazZoo 2020.

The annual summer concert series featuring the Columbus Jazz Orchestra with local and national guest performers, along with special appearances by animals from the Zoo, was to take place July 10, 24, 31 and August 6 at the Zoo’s Water’s Edge Events Park pavilion. This concert series has been jointly presented by JAG and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for over a decade.

“We’re heartbroken to have to cancel this summer’s JazZoo,” said Columbus Jazz Orchestra Artistic Director Byron Stripling. “We will miss our audiences and Zoo friends. And although we are canceling this year’s concerts, we’re excited to continue this amazing collaboration with the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for years to come.”

Columbus Zoo President and CEO Tom Stalf added, “As we remain dedicated to ensuring everyone’s health and safety, we are proud to continue working with the Jazz Arts Group of Columbus and other non-profit organizations on finding unique ways to celebrate wildlife and all our community has to offer.
