Affiliate Musicians Manager
Louis Tsamous has served as Director of Affiliate Musicians at JAG since 1997. In this role he provides the appropriate musicians to music buyers for events throughout central Ohio and the region, ranging from large corporate events to private receptions. This program creates a significant economic impact for these world class artists who represent the highest level of musicianship and professionalism in any setting.
Mr. Tsamous began playing the drums at age 10 and later graduated from The Ohio State University with a BA in 1982. He has since become one of the most versatile and active musicians in America. He has toured Europe, Asia and the Caribbean and has recorded and performed with jazz artists Stanley Turrentine, Etta Jones, Jimmy McGriff, Dr. Lonnie Smith, David “Fathead” Newman, Joey DeFrancesco and Kevin Mahogany among others.He recently toured the United States and Europe with jazz guitar legend Pat Martino.In addition to performing with various groups in the Midwest, Louis has done clinics at many high schools and universities across the country. Louis has been touring and recording with jazz organ sensation Tony Monaco since 1999 and is featured on six national releases on The Summit record label.

Jazz bands throughout Columbus City Schools have been working hard all year preparing repertoire for the annual Columbus City Schools JazzFest. As their families enjoy a rotation of phenomenal musicians inside the Lincoln Theatre Ballroom, each band will be upstairs in the Jazz Academy warming up and participating in educational masterclasses to hone their skills as a jazz musician. The Jazz Academy Jam Sessions are a community-focused, curated jam session series held the second Tuesday of each month in the Jazz Academy October 2022-May 2023. Jazz musicians of all ages and experience levels are invited to participate in the jam. Each session will have a theme with a list of tunes that will be drawn from.
