Kendal Smith

Director of Marketing & Communication

Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Kendal is an accomplished classically trained trombone player and jazz vocalist. Her formative teachers include trombonist Ron Kischuk, leader of the Toledo Jazz Orchestra, jazz vocalist Kimberly Buehler and her teacher, the late legend, Jon Hendricks.

Kendal attended Capital University and studied trombone under local educator, performer, and composer, Thomas Zugger. During her time at Capital, she performed under Jeffrey Gershman, William Boggs, Rob Parton, and Lou Fischer both in ensembles and as a solo musician. She graduated from Capital in 2020 with two degrees, Music Performance in Trombone, and Music Industry with an emphasis in Marketing and Management.

Outside of academia, Kendal has been involved in many musical projects and productions, most notably the band, “TATTAT” which disbanded mid-2021. She continues to be an avid performer in the community and surrounding areas and her passion for music drives her to continue to perform and create wherever she can.
