Join one of Columbus’ favorite bands, FLIPPO, as they perform and discuss their most recent project, “Flood: The Music of Herbie Hancock”, Offstage at the Jazz Academy!

“Flood” was the eighteenth album by Herbie Hancock, recorded live in Japan in 1975. Hancock remains one of the most influential jazz pianists working today and was one of the primary architects of the post-bop sound.

FLIPPO is a Columbus, OH based jazz group displaying instrumental virtuosity and creative energy in the spirit of sonic colors and innovation born of the “funk” and “jazz/rock fusion” movements of the 1970’s and beyond. The band features Michael Cox on sax, Dennis Hodges on guitar, Erik Augis on keyboards, Andy Woodson on bass, Louis Tsamous on drums, Lucas Holmes on keyboards, and Zach Compston on percussion

“Offstage at the Jazz Academy” provides participants a FREE behind-the-scenes glimpse at the unique lives and music of our CJO, JAG Presents and Columbus-area artists – adding a new perspective to being an audience member. You will have the opportunity to hear music and insights of each artist and ask questions in an intimate setting at the Jazz Academy.

“Offstage at the Jazz Academy” programs are FREE, and are located at 769 E. Long St. (4th Floor) Columbus, OH 43203.
