Join us for an evening of music by two signature ensembles from the Columbus jazz community! This concert will feature the Columbus Community Jazz Band, one of Jazz Arts Group’s signature Jazz Academy programs, and the Capital University Big Band from the Capital University Conservatory of Music.
The Columbus Community Jazz Band, under the direction of Jessica Sneeringer, is an ensemble held in the fall, spring and summer at the Jazz Academy. Consisting of community members from all occupations and backgrounds, the CCJB is a welcoming environment that performs in a variety of venues each season.
The award-winning Capital University Big Band, under the direction of Billy Wolfe, is the premier jazz ensemble at Capital University and represents some of the finest musicians within Capital’s Conservatory of Music. The Big Band performs a wide range of repertoire from such artists as Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Thad Jones along with contemporary music written to push the boundaries of the ensemble.
This event is free! Donations encouraged (suggested donation $10) and will benefit the Jazz Arts Group education and performance initiatives.
