In their 21st season, Jazz Arts Group presented concerts both at the Palace Theatre and the Battelle Auditorium. The Palace Theatre concerts featured Freddie Cole, Jack Jones and the Four Freshmen, and Maureen McGovern. The Battelle series featured Diane Schuur, Jiggs Whigham, Arturo Sandoval, Benny Golson, and concluded the season with an encore performance of the Stan Kenton/West Side Story tribute concert.

Benny Golson that is!!! A chance to see and hear one of the all-time great legends of the saxophone. Golson had recently returned to playing after 25 years of Hollywood success composing for such great TV shows as Ironside, Mannix, M*A*S*H, and Mission Impossible. He became very close to JAG as a guest artist on our new recording that was released that fall. Harold Jones returned on drums as the JAG explored the endless legacy of Count Basie.
