Jazz Arts Group (JAG) welcomes the financial support of all sizes of businesses. Opportunities include sponsorships of concerts, guest artists, concert series, recordings, commissions, arrangements, and world premiere performances.
The Columbus Jazz Orchestra (CJO) is the flagship performing ensemble of JAG. Led by trumpet virtuoso Byron Stripling, the CJO consists of musicians who are highly regarded as performers and educators. The CJO presents over 20 concerts each season at the historic Southern Theatre (Swingin’ with the CJO) and at the historic and newly renovated Lincoln Theatre. The ensemble also performs an outdoor summer concert series, JazZoo!, at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, in addition to performances at festivals and in community venues throughout the year.
JAG has expanded its musical reach with a new contemporary music series, Inside Track. This performance series, presented in the Lincoln Theatre, is designed to attract a diverse audience, and feature a cross-section of contemporary music by smaller ensembles. In 2011-12, JAG expanded this series to feature the Columbus Jazz Orchestra in the Lincoln Theatre as well as performances in alternative venues.
During the 2011-12 season, the CJO celebrated the 10th anniversary of Artistic Director Byron Stripling. The 2012-13 season found the organization celebrating its 40th anniversary as a performing arts organization in Columbus, Ohio.
With over 2,000 subscribers and over 8,000 single ticket buyers, the Jazz Arts Group can claim the most loyal and well attended of all the performance arts organizations in central Ohio. General Operating Support
For every organization that performs smoothly, there is an inside mechanism that supports and ensures the organization’s success. This inside group includes administration, finance, marketing, development and sales. To help support these functions of the Jazz Arts Group, general operating grants are needed. Grants vary in size and are often acquired through a competitive process at the corporation’s foundation or community philanthropy division. The staff at JAG is very willing to work within your corporate giving structure.
Many businesses and corporations provide matching gifts for employees who contribute to the Jazz Arts Group. Donors can double and sometimes triple the amount of their gift by encouraging their employers to participate in this program. JAG acknowledges the following companies for their Matching Gifts Programs: Cardinal Health, The McGraw-Hill Companies, JPMorgan Chase Foundation, Merrill Lynch Matching Gifts Program, AT&T Foundation, The Prudential Foundation, Verizon Foundation and Wolfe Associates, Inc.
