About the Class…
The Jazz Academy Kids Club is a fun and engaging space for kids to get creative while learning about jazz and American music. Each 45-minute class will provide opportunities for children to jump, clap, sing and play instruments. We will learn about legendary jazz musicians including Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker and Ella Fitzgerald, the instruments in the jazz band and the many different styles of jazz. The Jazz Academy space is a fun environment for children to explore their creativity, teamwork and self-expression.
During each visit, professional musicians along with members of the Columbus Youth Jazz Program will provide live music, and the Jazz Academy teaching artists will lead us in a wide range of exciting activities. We will journey to New Orleans, write our own blues lyrics and join the band in the sounds of swing!
There is no musical experience required to join the Jazz Academy Kids Club; all are welcome! Parents and guardians are welcome to observe the class in action, or grab a cup of coffee in our lounge.
