Masters and Friends
Masters and Friends residency (middle/high school instrumental students and their families): This residency provides both in-school and in-community experiences for individual students and their family members as well as ensemble. Extraordinary jazz educator Jim Masters adopts your school community through mentorship, with guidance and expertise.
If you want to increase the level of awareness of the study and playing of jazz, provide additional opportunities for students to hear quality jazz performances and bring professional jazz players into the classroom as teaching artists to interact with the students, this residency is for you.
Introduce Jim Masters to your students and each visit to the school he will bring a “friend,” such as Bobby Floyd or Gene Walker, to inspire and instruct your students. In addition, field trips and outings are offered to attend jazz concerts and lectures. This inter-generational approach provides a new level of valuing by your entire school community.
