The Jazz Arts Group of Columbus (JAG) is excited to announce the 2009-2010 season of the Jazz Academy’s PBJ & Jazz concert series in the newly restored Lincoln Theatre.

PBJ & Jazz Concert Dates:

  • Saturday, November 7, 2009
Columbus Jazz Orchestra’s premier pianist Bobby Floyd
  • Saturday, January 9, 2010
    Master blues guitarist Sean Carney
  • Saturday, February 13, 2010
Mark Flugge and Kelly Crum Delaveris
  • Saturday, March 6, 2010
The Cats and the Fiddle with Christian Howes

PBJ & Jazz concerts are 1-hour long interactive concerts designed to introduce jazz and American music to young children and their families. Featuring some of Columbus’ finest musicians and ensembles, PBJ & Jazz concerts are hosted by former Columbus Music Hall owner and retired music educator Rebecca Ogden and are a great introduction to live music for the youngest audience member.

“It has been so much fun over the years to work with great musicians playing real live jazz for kids and their families,” states Ogden. “Every concert is a treat. I am delighted that PBJ & Jazz has a life after the Columbus Music Hall in its new home at the Lincoln!”

PBJ & Jazz concerts are $5 per person at the door with a family maximum of $20. Children receive a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, juice and a cookie.

The 2009-10 concerts will be held in the ballroom in the Lincoln Theatre Complex, 769 E. Long Street, Columbus, OH 43203. All concerts begin promptly at 11:00 a.m.

Whenever I read about the great activities going on at the Jazz Arts Group, I get homesick. Jazz was so strong at OSU when I attended in the late 70′s and now the whole community of all ages is involved. Even though we live only one hour from Berklee School of Music, the biggest jazz school in the world, our area has nothing like the Jazz Arts Group. Please appreciate the opportunities.

Our two jazz sax players will be attending the OSU Jazz Camp again next summer and we highly recommend it to all high school musicians.

Wow, what a fun time with Sean Carney at the PBJ and Jazz show. My daughter has been dancing and singing ever since…thanks for a fun time.
