Silver & Spruce
Silver & Spruce, a sparkling duo of guitar & flute, offers a variety of music that ranges from classical to The Beatles. Latin, Spanish, folk, pop, French, and contemporary ballads, this duo can do it all. Pleasing personalities put the icing on this cake and make Silver & Spruce a good choice for a concert series, wedding ceremony music or quiet romantic dinner music. One of two exceptional guitarists: Craig Goodwin or Sean Ferguson joins with Rodolfo Vázquez, former first chair flutist with the Mexico City Orchestra to make this a most compelling musical choice.
Rodolfo Vázquez, flutist, is former professor of flute at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes and principal flute with the Orquesta Filarmónica del Conservatorio Nacional de Música both in México City and the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad de Guanajuato in Guanajuato, México. He has been touring as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles in the United States, México, England and Switzerland. Rodolfo is music director of Vázquez & Ferguson (Silver & Spruce) and El Cálido Viento. He has been awarded three times by the Ohio Arts Council and three times by the Greater Columbus Arts Council for CD recordings of Latin American, classical, original music and for chamber music recitals in Franklin County. He has studied with the world renowned Irish flutist James Galway who wrote of Rodolfo: “Your music is charming and beautifully played.” In August 2006 he participated in Sir James Galway’s Masterclass in Interlaken, Switzerland performing with the James Galway Flute Choir. Sir James commented in January 2007: “The class in Interlaken was the best I have ever heard as a teacher or performer and your wonderful playing is still a very vivid memory.” He is a musician-in-residence at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Upper Arlington, Ohio. Rodolfo taught flute at the Ohio State University CAP program for nine years and he is chairman of the Ohio Hispanic Fine Arts Association, an organization that promotes Latino arts in Ohio.
